Latest Updates From SJBA, 15th Nov 2011

We are pleased to inform that we have received donations of RM7,897.00 for the relief effort of the flood victims in Thailand. We are very appreciative and thankful to all donors who have promptly responded and generously donated to this worthy cause. SJBA had topped up the amount (from SJBA Humanitarian Fund) to RM10,000.00.

Bro Koh Lai Huat was backed over the weekend and we have handed a cheque for RM10,000 for him to hand over to Tzu Chi, Thailand on SJBA's and all donors behalf.

Fellow Brothers & Sisters in the Dhamma,

Thailand has many of its provinces in disaster zones in the current worst flooding in 5 decades that brought havoc to the country since the beginning of Oct 2011.  The floods have submerged 4 million acres of land, an area more than 2 times the size of the state of Selangor in Malaysia.  The floods have left more than 400 people dead thus far and damaged millions of homes and livelihoods, leaving great miseries to thousands of people.  Let's give some assistance to bring hope and relief to those in suffering.

For those of us who knew former SJBA's Treasurer, Mr. Koh Lai Huat (picture above) who is now working in Bangkok is currently involved in the Tzu Chi's relief effort.

SJBA can help by raising funds much needed to bring about relief to the flood victims. If you wish to contribute in this relief effort, you may donate directly to Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (please specify "for Thailand Flood Relief Fund"). SJBA shall channel all donations to Tzu Chi, Thailand via Bro Koh Lai Huat.

Please be informed that donations of medicine, foodstuff, etc would face lots of logistical problems to reach the desired needy people. Hence, it's easier to buy such items in Thailand itself.

You may reach Sister LiLy (administration office) by phone or e-mail for further enquiry if you wish to make contribution. Thank you.
