This article segment will discuss Phra Khun Paen votive tablets and imageneries made by popular Masters and Archan in modern times. The most famous of Phra Khun Paen amulets is originated from Wat BarnKrang in Suphanburi Province that is said to be more than 300 years old. It is very difficult to find an ancient piece of BarnKrang origin today with many fakes lurking around the collector's market even so, the price of a genuine piece is too steep for most people to own.
For worshippers of this legendary warrior from the Ayutthaya bygone era, there are other alternatives of newer Phra Khun Paen that are just as effective in protection and charming abilites as presented in this article.
Contemporary masters today whom are known to have great ability to create efficacious Phra Khun Paen amulets had been mesmerised by the spirit and valour of General Khun Paen. With a strong motivation and cultivation, these masters had learned the arcane sciences in creating these wonderful art of charming attraction for Khun Paen worshippers and amulet collectors to cherish.
Khun Paen died at the age 75 years old in B.E.2248 (A.D.1705) according to some historical records. After his passing away, his secrets with Kumanthong and other arcane sciences were revealed for the first time. Today’s Khun Paen and Kumanthong imaginaries and amulets are made using the same spells and incantation methods as in the past. As gratitude and great appreciation, The King of Suphanburi had ordered the construction of a temple to commemorate Khun Paen and Kumanthong for their heroic efforts and contributions to the country. The name of this temple is Wat BaarnKrang. It was said that during Khun Paen’s lifetime he never made any amulets until his passing away. All the ancient Phra Khun Paen amulets found beneath inside the old Chedis in Wat BarnKrang and other temples in Ayutthaya are thought to be made by monks in the early A.D.1700s. For over 300 years since that time until today there have been many remade batches using the sacred sciences.
In our research into this subject matter, Phra Khun Paen amulets are basically classified into 2 major types; the Mainstream Khun Paen and Plai Guman Khun Paen. The mainstream type is normally made with herbs, natural earth soils and incantation spells whereas the second type, are made using cemetery soils and possible inclusion of corpse materials. Hence, it is crucial to understand the background of the Phra Khun Paen so that you know what you are wearing.
From experience Plai Guman Khun Paen never do any harm to its owner but rather increases the good fortunes in the daily life of the worshipper. This is of course the owner of Plai Guman Khun Paen must share merits accrued after performing good deeds. Just like any other good amulets, involving in vice activities is never being encouraged. Creating bad karma will only create sufferings no matter how expensive or efficacious amulets you may have in hand.
Plai Guman Khun Paen amulets will usually be portrayed with a baby GumanThong lying at the bottom of Khun Paen. At times it can also be depicted by 2 little KumanThong at each side under the pillar with hands clasped revering Khun Paen. An example of this popular Plai Guman Khun Paen type in modern history was made by Luang Pu Tim of Wat Lahanrai dubbed “King of Khun Paen” due to the sacred components comprising of unborn baby corpse powder known as Plai Guman and 7 cemetery soils. However, there are also other known masters whom have created Plai Guman Khun Paen using these ancient arcane knowledge.
In recent years we have noticed many Khun Paen amulets represented with certain forms of sexual elements e.g. consorts of Khun Paen, nude postures of females surrounding Khun Paen, etc. This type of Phra Khun Paen amulets are made for the sole purpose of generating Mahasaneh or opposite sex attraction for the worshipper. We categorized this particular amulet genre for the Casanovas. There're good and bad depending on each individual. Mahasaneh category Phra Khun Paen may contain specific spells and different type of "Yin" or dark magic ingredients to uplift the cosmic energy to benefit the owner in achieving his desire for love and affection. This typical category of unothodox amulets is not dealt in this article as the main objective is to potray the original qualities of the ever popular contemporary Phra Khun Paen images.
A large majority of contemporary Mainstream Khun Paen usually do not have any GumanThong image being featured inside the sacred amulets. Even though the Mainstream Khun Paen may sometimes include GumanThong motives into the amulet design, it does not necessarily contain corpse materials. According to monks the reason behind to include the appearance of GumanThong into the design is to add extra power to the amulet.
The featured Phra Khun Paen above is a masterpiece and unique creation in recent time representing Khun Paen carrying baby GumanThong and weapon swung around his left arm. Great for business negotiation and getting appointment with difficult people. This is a very powerful image with Khun Paen and GumanThong in battle readiness mode that could only be interpreted into bringing victory and success to the owner. This is the least we could understand from the mind and intention of the creator of this masterpiece. Like the old saying goes, if you are successful and wealthy, the opposite sex will automatically be attracted to you. Therefore, having a contemporary piece of Phra Khun Paen may seem to be a wiser choice for the ordinary person.
In all forms of Khun Paen sacred images, he is been depicted by Lord Buddha’s image in meditation posture sometimes sitting on top of a lotus throne flanked by 2 pillars on each side with an embroidered rooftop. When you are first being introduced to a Phra Khun Paen amulet, the first thing that may come into your mind is being popular with opposite sex and spending excessive money. This notion is not true. The image of Khun Paen is most appropriate for wearing when having a business negotiation with someone or business joint-venture. Having it will bring unexpected good results in addition to ushering in wealth for the owner, deciphering danger, and improve affinity with others through making difficult people to work with us.
In conjunction with this article, we also hope to bring extra benefits in term of sharing experience on some of Phra Khun Paen from different masters in this era that are not expensive but yet effective from our point of view. We have devised a research methodology by going through every individual piece for 1 week duration to experience its devine energy toward oneself and the surrounding people we came in contact with daily. Only Phra Khun Paen we have experienced to bring good experiences in one way or the other are shown here.

LP Sakorn of Wat NongKrub, Rayong Province was born on 3rd February 1938. Now he is 73 years old. He studied supernatural sciences under Mr. Lor and Mr. Thad when he was young. He regularly served Luang Pu Tim of Wat Lahanrai. When he grew up into a young man, he gained possession of supernatural powers, which he never used to destroy others, but always help those in needs. He was ordained into monkhood at the age of 20 at Wat NongKrub. After that, he went to Wat Lahanrai during the Buddhist Lent, where he became a disciple of LP Tim in order to dedicate himself to learning Buddhist scriptures and arcane sciences from LP Tim.
LP Sakorn is the only one who succeeded in making Phra Khun Paen Prai Guman amulets and magic sciences from LP Tim whom had demonstrated high spirituality achievement and supernatural powers. LP Sakorn studied until he had developed a clear understanding of these matters and was adept at performing them. And then he developed further skills in supernatural subjects that he had studied with passion on all aspects. This event had led him to seek higher knowledge from the Venerable Father Peng Sasano at Wat Laharn Yai. LP Sakorn later accepted the advice from LP Tim to further his studies under the tutelage of a very senior monk Venerable Grandfather Hin at Wat Nong Sanom. After he had completed his studies of supernatural sciences from LP Hin, he travelled further to study under LP Som at Wat BanChong.

Phra Khun Paen amulets made by LP Sakorn are similar in shape and design with his teacher LP Tim. The trademark similarity is the gold painted front side and 2 Salika Takrut embedded behind the amulet. LP Sakorn had made several popular batches with the remaining sacred Plai Guman powder from his teacher such as B.E.2530, B.E.2546, and B.E.2551 declared the last batch "Roon Suthai".

Wat BarnKrang Suphanburi
Khun Paen Wat BarnKrang, Big Chest Phim
Khun Paen Wat BarnKrang does not need further introduction. It is regarded by worshippers and collectors as the de facto Khun Paen amulet. This piece was originated from Wat Bangkrang and it is considered old, but not as old as the 300+ years. Wat Bangkrang had reproduced many batches over the century and there is no actual record of how many batches have actually been reproduced. Temple reproduction will usually contain mixture of old holy powders and borken pieces from Old Kru.
At the very least we can study the 2 distinct characteristics derived from the phim mould of a Big Chest type Bangkrang Khun Paen. The earthen color and coarse texture is the first sign. The second sign is the clear appearance of several visible line markings at the sides. This piece had a clear crack lining at the tip along with several thin marking lines.
Power effects of most mainstream amulets e.g. Somdej always do not come immediately. Bangkrang Khun Paen is no exception. Its efficacies and benefits will gradually build up in 1-2 weeks time of wearing the amulet with strong faith.
Khun Paen for CASANOVA
In recent years Phra Khun Paen amulets had evolved in accordance to changes in taste and lifestyles of worshippers and collectors. From observation, the motive behind the creation of this Khun Paen amulets featuring some daring images is mainly to distinguish that it is different from others especialy in potraying strong MahaSaneh (lethal opposite sex attraction). People always associate Khun Paen as the best Romeo with many wives and consorts. This may be the key reason why this Casanova type of amulets were created for the Casanovas who have only 1 aim - to charm and attract the opposite sex. But this type of Phra Khun Paen amulet had created controversies in the Buddhist Council in Thailand. An example of this controversial piece that is being presented here is actually a beautiful piece of art. This batch was named "Coyote" the word defining ambient nightlife with plentiful of drinks, seductive women and good sex.
Well, from a collector's point-of-view, there is nothing serious about this amulet. But imagine if a girl that you have been courting by using a casanova amulet were to accidentally see this explicit amulet hanging on your neck, the impression and personal reputation may be damaging. However, it is up to individual's taste in choosing what type of Phra Khun Paen to adore. We will not make any judgement whether it's right or wrong because the choice is in the mind of the beholder. Khun Paen after all is the most powerful charming taslisman ever created.
Lethal Attraction and Strong Sex Appeals
Talismans with the effects of garnering lethal attractions is not only limited to Khun Paen sacred occult. In Thailand, devotees also revered GumanThong the spirit son of Khun Paen. GumanThong or little spirit boys are created by monks during incantation ceremonies for the purpose of assisting worshipper in many ways particularly in the form of attracting wealth, fame and success to its owner.
The opposite gender of this little spirit is called GumanRe for the same purpose. From this perspective, the potent combination of GumanThong and Khun Paen is indeed an effective talisman for strong appeal and lethal attraction.
The first temples in Thailand to make GumanThong in modern times are Wat SamNgan and Wat Takong. Both temples are located in Nakhon Pathom Province. LP Tae was well known for making GumanThong also known as the Golden Child. It is believed that LP Tae had the supernatural power to see wondering souls of the dead that roamed the surroundings. The purpose of creating GumanThong is to give opportunity for those spirits to make merits before rebirth. This art form would require a high level of mind concentration and knowledge of Khmer sacred spells in order to unlock the secrets of GumanThong. LP Tae would cast the souls into a child-like statue and gave to people who needed help. After LP Tae passed away, the knowledge in making GumanThong was handed down to his disciple Archan Yeam.
Properties for attraction and appeal can also come in other forms. Thai masters also create a type of sacred oil termed Affinity Oil that can be applied on the body to enable the user to have affinity with people. Such sacred art can be made either in the form of oil, powder or cream. The ingredients used for this sort of "Affinity Oil" are herbal plants, flowers, incantated holy water from temple, sacred wood, and it may include special ingredients such as bone ashes and corpose oil under exceptional circumstances. The ingredients may vary according to the master's peferences and the effect may also vary depending on how this Affinity Oil renders the result in establishing affinity.
To devotees and worshippers of sacred amulets and talismans for love and attractions, they relate to the use of magical objects to attract the opposite gender. Many literacy works had been written in Thailand associating General Khun Paen's love affairs with many women and he is possessed strong charismatic virtue. A truly remarkable lover and a great warrior. Therefore, many masters focused their attention on personal affinity and appeal in the creation of Phra Khun Paen sacred talismans.
"Mae-Per" is another potent affinity cult object which has the object in stimulating sexual appeal and making a woman worshipper being popular and appealing to the male gender. The art form of Mae-Per is depicted with a female gesture with her legs wide open signifying delivery of a child. Mae-Per symbolises good fortune, love and wealth for women worshipper whereas the opposite "Palad Khik" represents cult object for men.
The Thais also believe in "Mae TaKien" a beautiful female ghost spirit that is the guarding of TaKien trees. To be effective as a talisman to offer protection and to be used for attraction it must be made from TaKien trees. As a sacred object, Mae Takien is used to help in boosting the personal appeal of the women to the opposite sex.
Another cult object for love attraction in the form of a man embracing a woman called "E-Per ". It is generally known as love amulets has strong appealing power on the opposite sex. This love affinity amulet can intensify the user's sexual desire and love towards women.
In particular, E-Per and Mae-Per are sacred objects that can bring great sexual appeals to worshippers that contained the elements of "Yin and Yang".
There are many shapes and sizes, and materials used in the making of such Love Affinity Amulets. Some of these affinity amulets are made by prominent masters and some are made by occult practitioners.
The various forms of personal affinity objects mentioned above each have their own magical powers in securing lethal attractions and charming personality to the user. But the person must observe the 5 Buddhist Precepts failing which they must be prepared to face the Karma that he or she created.

Hoon Pa Yon
Khun Paen’s legend is also associated with another cult object called “Hoon Pa Yon”. It is a small figurine usually like a human doll or an old man. Thai people believed Khun Paen could also use his magic to make Hoon PaYon for protecting his house and personal assets. Just my personal view Khun Paen probably used Hoon Pa Yon to protect his wives and lovers as well.
Hoon PaYon can be made from many materials such as soil, metal, bamboo etc. In the past Hoon Pa Yon was mainly created to take care of the house, office, farm and valuables from thief, protecting the owner from black magic, evil spirits and malicious omens. It can also bring good fortune in business affairs to the owner.
The power of Hoon Pa Yon is not activated by using dead spirits unlike GumanThong. Instead it’s activated with spells and using raw materials as mentioned above. Hoon Pa Yon can be made in different shapes and sizes.
The making of Hoon Pa Yon must go through sacred incantation spells by a master who knew this ancient arcane knowledge. Reputable masters in Thailand today making good Hoon Pa Yon are Luang Phor Chang Ganatasilo of Wat Ngaung Yai Mow, Kruba Thep DhammaRungSee of Wat Tum MungKorn Thong, Luang Phor Sa Ngah of Wat BanMau, Luang Phor Pon of Wat CherngWai, Luang Phor Muk of Wat Kowlekrarngsadow, Luang Phor Kloy of Wat Phukulthong and Ajarn Sup.
